Aaron Gwin and Neko Mulally Make It One-Two in Fontana

The early season racing has really kicked off in California and Neko Mulally, who left the frigid temperatures of his hometown Reading, PA, joined his champion team mate in the sunnier climes of California. This past weekend saw Round 4 of the Southridge winter series held on the Fontana track, a dusty, pedally truck lovingly referred to as 'Fontucky'.

A few weeks back Aaron convincingly won Round 3 of the series, but this weekend his younger team mate got to stand on the number 2 box, on the day he turned 19. Here’s Neko’s description of how his race went:

“This past weekend Aaron and I raced the 4th round in Fontana and it was a great weekend for us. The weather was beautiful and I got to ride my Session a lot. The track was a lot better than the other tracks this year and was a lot of fun to ride. It was a great chance for me to work on a few things that I’d wanted to try before the big races coming up next month, and I ended up finishing 2nd to Aaron, 2 seconds off his time. I was pretty happy with that because half the track was a flat sprint along the wall. I felt that I rode the technical sections really well. I’m stoked I got to ride in some warm weather and celebrate my birthday racing my bike!”
