Justin Leov Finishes 6th In Enduro World Series Debut

Trek World Racing's Justin Leov had a very solid start to his 2013 Enduro Racing campaign with an overall 6th place at the 2nd round of the newly created Enduro World Series. Riding the Remedy 29'er Justin had a much stronger 2nd day of the 2 day event seeing his overall ranking climb from 9th overnight, and has come away having learned a great deal about this new format of racing.

In the first stage of the event Justin felt he rode well but had a burped tire causing a slow leak and finished 16th, where many favourites retired with punctures. 2nd stage Justin raised his tire pressures a little and rode better but even with a clean run felt he wasn't fast enough and came in 15th. On the final stage of Day 1 he felt much faster on the bike and finished 8th.

Day 2 saw longer stages with less bike park content, more natural riding. On the 1st stage Justin caught the rider in front after a few minutes of racing. Excited by his pace Justin unfortunately over did it and crashed over the bars bending his rear derailleur a little, but he still recorded a fast run. In the next stages he rode a lot cleaner and smoother which resulted in a solid result finishing 6th overall and less than 1 minute off the win after 2 days of racing.

Justin said: "What an awesome event! I came here for these events knowing this was all going to be a learning experience. A fact finding mission if you like. I didn't have any preconceived ideas about podiums or anything like that so to be 6th is a great feeling. I nearly blew it a couple of times because I was just having so much fun going flat out on the Remedy 29'er. Just love this bike. The final stage was short and like a sprint, I actually wanted it too much and found I was too aggressive and nearly crashing with mistakes. I told myself to settle down, but I was just too excited and I lost a bit of time. Still happy to finish feeling strong, but I was just a little rusty on how to get the mix right of aggressiveness and being in control."

This weekend it's Round 3 of the EWS in Les Deux Alpes, France.
